naturally leavened bread

pleasanton bakery in traverse city has inspired me to bake naturally leavened bread.  i made my own started about a month ago.  it has been sitting in my fridge just waiting for my stone pot to be found so i could make my bread.  it kept slowly fermenting and when i broke it out this week to make the bread i wasn't sure if it was going to be good.  ironically, i found out last week that i can get a starter right from pleasanton if i want!

i used hard red wheat ground fresh from our grain grinder.  i mixed it up last night so we could have fresh bread for dinner tonight.  half the loaf is already gone... it is delicious.  success!

  1. looks yummy! we tried to make some bread too but we used the old fashioned yeast method. Right as the loaves were ready to go into the over, F stuck his hands into both of them! I left them that way and they tasted pretty good. I used part white and part whole wheat flour.

You can even get dough from pleasanton if you want! they are so awesome!
